As Director of Introductions UK Ltd, a professional introduction agency I do like to write about personal experiences that many people can relate to.

My parents had a wonderful marriage of many years and when my father suddenly died  we were all devastated as a family. With time we children all picked up the threads of our lives but my mum was left bereft and very lonely.

My parents had always socialised, but now invitations to dinner parties meant uneven numbers and many people stopped calling round. Understandably not everyone knows what to do or say in these situations but avoiding the person concerned can be even more hurtful. Years later my mum still remembers the kind words and actions from people around her that meant so much to her at the time.

There is no right time to try and move forward with your life, I can only say that with each day she become a little stronger. I think the turning point came when we decided to take a holiday together, just mother and daughter, and learn to sail. Taking up a new challenge in life can help you to re-focus and begin to experience life once again.

It was shortly after this holiday that I encouraged my mum to meet one or two gentlemen through the introduction agency. Introductions UK offer a truly personal one to one matchmaking service. Once enrolled, It was lovely to see her thinking about what to wear and the right thing to say as she began to meet one or two gentlemen. I was thrilled when she met Alexander and they seemed to hit it off right from the start. Although not a widower himself, he had been divorced for seven years and sincerely wanted to meet a very special lady for the long term.

Alexander is the total opposite of my father in both looks and personality, but a sincere and genuine man in his own right. For the last 20 years he has made my mum very happy and she him in return. My mum has been blessed with two wonderful husbands in her lifetime. She understood right from the start that we would not be able to replace the man she had loved for so many years and I encouraged her to have an open and flexible outlook.

It is impossible to replace a husband with exactly the same model, but it is not impossible to find happiness twice. God bless both of them.
