A Day In The Life Of A Matching Consultant at Introductions UK

My name is Ailie and I have been a Personal Matching Consultant with Introductions UK for the last 4 years. The role of a Matching Consultant within an Introduction Agency is one that raises many questions (and eyebrows) whenever it is offered in answer to the question of ones job title?
It is an occupation seldom found on the endless lists which are prompted from the dropdown box when seeking car insurance or filling out online forms requiring personal information.
It’s a vocation that touches on the many different aspects and elements of both office worker and personal adviser.
Our role (in a nutshell) is to basically care for each client assigned to us and ultimately endeavour to match them with a mutually compatible partner and help them find happiness. Each day is a different experience and no two days are ever the same, this of course leads to an interesting and somewhat unusual office environment, to say the least.
The Introductions UK office opens up much the same as many other workplaces – with an overview of the day ahead and a nice cup of tea! This usually includes an update on individual clients who have contacted us with feedback, questions or just to tell us how they are enjoying their membership.
Each Consultant then receives their own personal action plan for the day from the Office Manager. This consists of client interview appointment times, client registrations and of course the all important ‘Client Dates’ that need to be searched for, matched and actioned. My day will vary from talking to brand new clients who have never experienced an Introduction Agency before, reassuring them and demonstrating to them that we can definitely help them, to spending time with my existing portfolio of clients. I usually put aside 2 to 3 hours quiet time when I will submerge myself into matching ladies and gents together. Over the years I have gained a certain amount of intuition into what constitutes an excellent match but of course my guidelines begin with the client’s own preferences. As a team we will discuss individual clients together, always trying to find that someone special. I take great pride in my role as a Personal Matching Consultant and treat my clients as “friends”. At the end of the day they have trusted me with their personal future and the least I can do is to give my 100% commitment to that person. As you can probably tell, I love my role as a Personal Matching Consultant and the icing on the cake for me personally is when two people I have matched together, call the office to share their good news with me.
Here at Introductions UK we pride ourselves as one of the few agencies who really do care about their clients. We always endeavour to find matches for our clients as local to them as possible and we work on a fast turnaround time compared to other Introduction Agencies. I feel this sets us apart from many other companies offering a similar service to ourselves.
The Help Desk is another feature of our service that seems unique to our Introduction Agency. This service is available for all of our clients who wish to call in with any questions they may have, once they become members. Part of my day may find me taking my turn on our Help Desk and it keeps us all up to date with how their memberships are progressing.
Of course each day we have new clients joining and enquiring. This means we have to be on hand at any time to answer questions and explain the features of our service. Each person who calls has different questions and queries as for many it’s the first time they have explored an Introduction Agency as an option to meet a partner. The ages of our clients range from 20’s to 70’s from all walks of life with very different experiences. Some like to explain their reasons for seeking out an Introduction Agency and some just like to receive the information and ask questions along the way.
We encourage all of our clients to build up a personal rapport with their own Personal Matching Consultant but of course we ultimately work as a team and we are happy to assist each others clients. That is the beauty of not being a sales person on commission but a Personal Matching Consultant who really cares about their clients.
Using all my skills as a Personal Matching Consultant the only item I cannot match on is personal chemistry. As you know, this is a very personal and individual thing. My experience as a Personal Matching Consultant here at Introductions UK has certainly made me believe “there is someone for everyone”.
